Watch Portland vs Colorado Prediction 4th July Broadcast TV Channels List
Colorado is rolling on a streak of its own a club record 11-game unbeaten streak. And the Rapids are welcoming the long-anticipated arrival of U.S. Men’s National Team and international star goalkeeper Tim Howard, who is expected to boost a team that has lost only twice this season.
The Portland Timbers head to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado to take on the Western Conference-leadingColorado Rapids on Monday, July 4.
Timbers (6-6-5, 23 points) lost their U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 matches against the LA Galaxy 1-0 on Wednesday but go to Colorado riding a five-game unbeaten streak in Major League Soccer matches.
So let me get this straight, who had Colorado on top of the West at this point of the season? I thought they were nuts after cutting nearly half their roster from 2015 but turns out the organization knew something. Union retreat Zac MacMath has been better than expected in goal with 6 shutouts and the Rapids have just conceded 11 goals in 16 matches. Their defense has been stellar, they have found offense with Jermaine Jones, Kevin Doyle, and Luis Solignac, and they are unbeaten at home. I like the Timbers but my confidence isn’t there with an offense that is still trying to find themselves and a defense that is in some flux. I hope I am wrong, but the Mile High City has been a difficult venue for Portland as well.
Colorado’s defense, which has been incredible so far this season, gets a boost with the arrival of U.S. Men’s National Team and international star goalkeeper Tim Howard. Jermaine Jones also returns to Colorado from the USMNT. The Timbers have been unable to close the deal on the road despite having leads in six games away from Providence Park and Portland coach Caleb Porter continues to deal with injuries and a patchwork defense.
Jermaine Jones back in the lineup for this game, which should help give the offense a significant boost. The Timbers have yet to win on the road this season, despite holding leads in their last six games away from home. Portland is riding a five-game unbeaten streak in MLS play, but it will be difficult for the club to keep the streak alive in Colorado.
